I-GO Car Sharing Releases 2nd Annual Audio Emissions CD

More than 80 bands competed for a spot on I-GO's 2nd Audio Emissions CD, but only the best were selected by I-GO members. Available this month, the CD features Chicago's coolest and most popular bands, including fan favorites Wilco and Neko Case.

The CD begins with legendary Studs Terkel interviewing the late Queen of Gospel and fellow Chicagoan Mahalia Jackson. Neko Case sings about driving and Wilco sings about singing. Award-winning rapper and I-GO member Kid Sister donated her track "Control." The Golden Ranch Square Dance Band, known for their tongue-in-cheek barn dances, rounds out the CD with "Hummer", reminding us that you will never get to heaven in a Hummer.

Winners of the online contest to be on the CD include Kaotic Drumline, a south side percussion band that performs at WNBA half-time shows; Brighton, MA; and a local rock group Cobalt and the Hired Guns. Fellow winner Judson Claiborne gives us a song inspired by Finkel Steel and Justin Petertil and Seth Vandek experiment with the sounds of the el.

"While I-GO members don't spend a lot of time in cars, when they do, we want to provide them with fun, new music that they like and choose. By providing this cd, it's also a way for us to thank our members not only for their business but their commitment to reduce car usage and carbon emissions," said Sharon Feigon, CEO of I-GO Car Sharing.
